Those bastard vanity guys! Just let me at 'em with seven thousand dollars of whoop-ass! You're the better person, Erin, don't let it get you down!
You'll get your deal. I'll buy your book. Maybe I'll even tell people I knew you before you got famous.
That sucks, and I'm sorry! I know this process is a drag, but keep plugging away. It's never easy, and I've heard countless stories like these. Have you thought about Manic D. Press? They're a small independent publisher that puts out some quality stuff. Their guidelines say you should read at least one of their books before submitting, and I think that's good advice (i.e. make sure your manuscript & their company is a good fit). It's worth a try. . .
Hi everyone and thanks for your comments and support. My novel Harvey & Eck was published in 2005 and much of what I discuss here is old news. I started this blog because I'm finally able to deal with the stories and laugh about them instead of cry.Rac: There are those few vanity success stories, but the horror stories far outweigh them.white: Thanks. But I wouldn't hold my breath on the famous part though. erf!ing: I'll check out Manic. It's always good to keep this sort of stuff on the radar for the next one.
You're being too nice to them by not exposing their name and who they are! Tell the world.
Fuckers. That's all i've got to say.
